Portal

Portal, 2010, Graphite Installation.

Our thoughtful mind has the propensity to spin in endless loops. For the artist, Portal is an attempt to step out of the thought process by participating in mundane and repetitive action. For the viewer, Portal functions as a visual koan. The hand drawn circles are body-referential. While standing close and perpendicular to the wall, an arm is spun to mark or erase thus making the width of each circle the same length as the height of their maker.
