About Elizabeth Hurtado:
Owner & Lead Designer @ Hurtado Homes LLC

I'm a multidisciplinary artist and architectural designer. My passion is designing & building with earth, both as an art form and a sustainable building method.

I earned a Master of Fine Arts from the University of North Texas in 2005.  Before I ventured into the business of architecture, I acquired over 15 years of experience teaching various university-level art courses, including printmaking, figure drawing, and conceptual art.

Following a dream to shift my career focus, I obtained a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2017. By the universe's grace, I have been designing custom homes for a diverse clientele ever since.

During my architectural studies, I became interested in unfired (lime-stabilized) compressed earth as a construction material because of its efficiency, resiliency, beauty, and healthier impact on both body and the environment.

In my spare time, I enjoy gardening, learning about regenerative agriculture, and adventuring with my dogs.
